Become a Lifestyle Blogger!

I never thought I’d be “Going Hollywood” in this blog, but I can’t fight the inspiration that hit me this afternoon: To become a lifestyle blogger is a little like becoming a reality TV star (and I mean that in the best way!) that lifestyle bloggers create a home on the web where they share their unique perspective on life. It has occurred to me that the Kardashians are BRILLIANT marketers. They make sure that you know what they’re up to, and who they are doing it with.

From where I stand, the Kardashian perspective is to incorporate everything that happens in their lives – good or bad – and keep on going. From Kim’s psoriasis skin issues, to Lamar Odom’s dramatic fall and recovery, while “estranged wife” (translation: Ex Wife) Khloe Kardashian lived at his bedside, to Caitlyn Jenner’s transformation, while Kris Kardashian feels slightly slighted because she says didn’t see the big change coming. They share life’s highs and lows (and everything in between), and somehow benefit from all sides of life’s spectrum. Why not apply that to your blogging too?

UPDATE 12/30/15: Ironically, the only Kardashian I didn’t write about yesterday, Rob Kardashian, made news later in the day as he was just diagnosed with diabetes. I hadn’t mentioned Rob in the original version of this post yesterday, and sure enough, hours later, a new Kardashian plot line has been introduced to the public. On behalf of InternetFamousVIP.com, I’m sending them strength. But let’s face it, The Kardashians are a tough and hearty clan. God bless ’em!

As the saying goes, character is what you get when you didn’t get what you want. So why not share a little more of yourself in your blog? One of my storytelling mentors is Michael Margolis, author of Believe Me. He says that, in order to tell your authentic story, you must include the highs and the lows of your life. BUT since this is your story, you have control over which “low moments” you share. No need to overshare like the Kardashians, but think about how you can share a little more of your personality in your blog.

 

Become a Lifestyle Blogger: Keep Up with the Kardashians

I’ve never watched any of their shows, but I still hear about what the Kardashians are doing. EVEN during the times when I am doing a media fast, to cleanse my mental palate by not being on the internet, watching TV, etc, their exploits STILL reach me. If you’ve ever considered going on a media fast for a few days and worried that you’d miss something, I’ll say that you won’t miss much. If there is a MAJOR news story breaking, you WILL hear about it. But it also turns out that the Kardashians also fall into the major news story category.

I’m not here to debate how talented the First Family of Reality TV show is. I’m just saying that I admire their tenacity.

And TENACITY is what every blogger needs. To not only keep going, but to take the losses and turn them into gold. Blogging is a fantastic way to express yourself, but you may write many posts before you gain momentum and the web traffic that you want. Some days you may feel like you’re not making any progress, but it’s okay.
